Update: 12th July 2024

The newly reformed Stanley Primary School PTFA have had a very productive six months since we started in November 2023. Our target was to improve the sound and lighting in both the infant and junior halls to enhance the performances for parents and relatives of the children. Some feedback from previous performances was that hearing the children speaking from the back of the hall was sometimes difficult. So we made a plan. Our first fundraiser was to be a rainbow raffle. Each year group was asked to bring in items of a certain colour (eg toiletries, chocolates, sweets, candles, small gifts) and from these generous donations we made 8 very large hampers in decorated boxes to raffle at each of the Christmas performances. Amazingly we raised over £1100 which was a brilliant start to our challenge.

Our next event was the Easter Bingo. Families donated easter eggs and we had a fantastic night of two bingo sessions including six games of bingo, a raffle and a tuck shop. This raised an incredible £576.35. We had some eggs left over so we decided to hold a chocolate raffle at the Year 1 Easter Performances the week after, where we raised another amazing £184.

In the May half term school researched some quotes to start the work needed for the junior hall updating the sound system and some portable microphones and the work was done a few weeks later. People have already commented at the recent fabulous Yr 6 production that the sound is much better so it’s lovely to see the money we have raised has had a positive impact.

Our final fundraiser of the year was a virtual balloon race. This eco friendly way of running a balloon race is computer generated. People could buy a balloon, customise it and name it. On 5th July at 12.00 the race started and 210 balloons set off. We will send an update when we know how much we have raised from this.

When we come back in September 2024, we have a number of exciting events planned, including discos and story times and also some of the successful events will return.

Please get in touch with the school office if you wish to join us.

Thank you.
